Recycling Computers

Computer Recycling in Philadelphia, Delaware, and New Jersey. When your computers have reached the end of their useful life, or you’ve upgraded to the latest technology, your old computers need to be recycled (and whatever data remains on them destroyed). We handle the entire operation from pick up to final disposal. We make sure NONE of your old machines end up in a landfill in the United States, or somewhere overseas (or worse, in the ocean) with our Philadelphia Electronics Recycling Service.

The Process of Recycling Computers

1. Collection and Transportation:
The first step is collecting old or unused computers. This can be done through drop-off programs, local recycling centers, or e-waste collection events. Once collected, the computers are transported to recycling facilities.

2. Sorting and Dismantling:
At the facility, computers are sorted based on type, condition, and recyclable materials. Technicians dismantle each computer, separating its components, including the hard drive, motherboard, power supply, and screen.

3. Data Destruction:
To ensure data security, recycling facilities usually wipe or physically destroy hard drives before processing. This step prevents data breaches and protects users’ personal information.

4. Component Processing:
After dismantling, components are processed based on material type. Metals, plastics, and other elements are separated and sent to specialized facilities for further recycling. Precious metals may be extracted, while plastics are often repurposed.
